How To Fix: HP printer installation failed on Windows 10
On nearly all new HP Printers like Color LaserJet Pro MFP M476dw, M477 and others, HP has a new service called HP Web Services. Problem is that, if you want to install the drivers for a USB connection and you are using any form of firewall blocking these services, the installation more likely will fail.
Usually, you have errors like “99% and timed out” or installation time will be very long (it should be maxing 3 minutes top), but it goes for like 20 minutes without a success.
The solution is to turn off those services at the printer for the time of driver installation. Your network setup (infrastructure) may not allow for those connections. From the Home screen on the product control panel, touch the Web Services button. Then Touch the Disable Web Services button. Restart Your PC and the printer, try to install it again. It should work this time.
